Ms. Ashley T. Whitt develops the Foundation’s grantmaking, community impact, and community leadership activities.
Ashley began her tenure with the Spartanburg County Foundation in 2009 as an intern while completing her studies at Converse University. She supported the SCF Initiative, Women Giving for Spartanburg, and the SCF Finance Department during her internship. She became a full-time staff member in 2011 as a program associate. She has worked as a program specialist, grants manager, and most recently as a senior program officer for the Foundation.
Ashley is a graduate of Converse University, where she received both a Bachelor of Science in business administration and a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish. During her years at Converse, she studied Spanish in Mexico and economics in France and Spain. Ashley also holds a certificate of nonprofit program management from the Georgia Center for Nonprofits.
This year, Ashley became a Hull Fellow. The Hull Fellows Program is Philanthropy Southeast’s (formerly the Southeastern Council of Foundations) premier year-long leadership development program for emerging leaders in the southeast region. In its 18th year, with over 300 graduates, it focuses on three areas: leadership, fellowship, and mentorship. Ashley is one of 23 philanthropic professionals representing the 2022 class.
In 2012, Ashley graduated from the Foundation’s Grassroots Leadership Development Institute and is a member of the Grassroots Leadership Alumni Association. She is also involved with SC Grantmakers, Together SC, and the Spartanburg Joint Funders. Additionally, she is a past member of the Junior League of Spartanburg.
A native of Spartanburg, Ashley resides in Glenn Springs with her husband Roger and two young daughters, Clara and Jessie. She enjoys spending time with her family and participating in her church choir and children’s programs.
