The Spartanburg County Foundation awarded $10,000 in grants to 4 nonprofit organizations working innovatively to address the needs of Spartanburg County residents. Grants were awarded to organizations that are providing immediate services to the community during the COVID-19 outbreak. These grants are made possible by The Spartanburg County Disaster Relief Fund, a fund held at The Spartanburg County Foundation. Grants were given to the following organizations:
- Hub City Farmers Market
Hub City Farmers Market is the recipient of a $2,500 grant that will provide access to healthy food choices for Spartanburg County families who have been affected by COVID-19. The Hub City Farmers Market serves to increase the supply, demand, and access to healthy, local food in Spartanburg County.
- Upstate Warrior Solution
Upstate Warrior Solution is the recipient of a $2,500 grant to provide immediate food assistance to Spartanburg County veterans and supplement what veterans have not been able to obtain at food pantries. Upstate Warrior Solution’s mission is to connect warriors and their families to resources and opportunities, lead them through the process of self-empowerment, and inspire the community to embrace Warriors and their families as valued neighbors and friends.
- Middle Tyger Community Center
Middle Tyger Community Center is the recipient of a $2,500 grant to assist at least twenty-five families and/or households with utilities assistance. Middle Tyger Community Center’s mission is to provide holistic resources to enhance and support the lives of people in Spartanburg County. Located within Spartanburg County School District Five in Lyman, the Center serves residents living in the western part of the County.
- Greer Relief
Greer Relief is the recipient of a $2,500 grant to assist in restocking their shelves to accommodate for the growing need of immediate food assistance to new and current clients. For more than 80 years, Greer Relief has provided safety net programs focused on eliminating hunger and homelessness in the Greater Greer area.
